Special Xiangji Temple-West Lake Night Tours During May Holiday
Apr 30, 2010 By eChinacities.com

Starting May 1st and continuing for the duration of the May holiday, visitors to Hangzhou can enjoy night tours of Xiangji Temple and West Lake, opting to ride the ferry along the West Lake and watch the sun set along the banks, or to ride the water bus to the newly renovated Xiangji Temple for a visit.

Also beginning May 1st, visitors can rent boats (80 RMB/hour) and row along the West Lake for a more personalized night tour; tickets are sold at designated dock points around West Lake. Boats can rented weekdays from 16:50 to 22:00, and until 22:30 on Friday, Saturday and the National holidays.

Starting May 8th, there will also be ferries available to take visitors on a night tour of the West Lake. Tickets for the ferries are sold at the Second Park Dock, Youth Palace Dock, and Fifth Park Docks, everyday from 16:45 to 21:00. Tickets are 25 RMB/person and the entire trip lasts around 50 minutes.

The newly renovated Xiangji Temple will also be open every night from 17:00 to 21:00; day time open hours will remain the same.

To better service the needs of night time visitors to the newly renovated Xiangji Temple, water buses have also been put to use around the area. Starting May 1st, there are two routes for the water buses, each making one trip each night. Every night at 19:00 visitors can board the water bus at Wulinmen Dock and make one stop en route at Xiangji, and then continue over and dock at Qiaoxi Dock (west of the Gongchen Bridge). The reverse trip – Qiaoxi to Wulinmen Dock departs every night at 20:10. The trip to Xiangji Temple is under 20 minutes and tickets are 30 RMB/person for the single trip. You can also buy the ticket as a set, which includes a trip on the grand ferry along the canal and a visit to see the lanterns at the temple, for 48 RMB/person (you can reserve these tickets up to three days ahead of your visit).
