Shenzhen Transport -Subway

The Shenzhen Metro opened in 2004. Currently there are five metro lines: the Luobao Line (formerly line 1), the Shekou Line (formerly line 2), the Longgang Line (formerly line 3), the Longhua Line (formerly line 4) and the Huanzhong Line (formerly line 5) that all provide services from 6:30 to 23:00. Each line intersects the other four lines in at least one station, and passengers can transfer to any of the lines underground. Metro rides are priced according to distance travelled: a ride less than 4 km costs 2 RMB, with an additional 1 RMB charge added at the 8 km, 12 km, 18 km, 24 km distances (as well as every 8 km after 24 km). Riders receive a 5% discount by using the Shenzhen Tong Card (Shenzhentong Special Pass excluded). Riders who pay for a bus fare with the Shenzhen Tong Card and then a subway fare within 90 minutes will receive an additional discount of 0.4 RMB.

The Luobao Line runs from Luohu Border Checkpoint to Airport East Station, operating at 6-minute intervals (4-minute intervals during peak hours). Ticket prices are 2 RMB for any 3 stations and 9 RMB for the entire line.
