Shenzhen Police Offer Rewards to Terror Informants

Shenzhen police authorities have implemented a new system of rewarding informants for information about ‘terrorist activities.’

The Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau announced June 17 that people can earn cash rewards for giving information on vehicles, people, objects or activities deemed to be ‘suspicious’.

Once confirmed, the reward would depend on the scale of the operation they uncovered; the more serious the crime, the bigger the reward. Rewards can range from 2,000 RMB to 500,000 RMB but there is no definite upper limit.

On the other hand, if someone is found to be purposely supplying false information, they will be held accountable.

Wuhan’s public security officials have released a similar statement.
