Apr 22, 2010 By eChinacities.com

Vice-mayor of Shenzhen and the director of the city police force Li Ming has announced that due to the particular social backdrop of Shenzhen – the fact that it is a densely populated city (14 million) with one of the largest number of migrant workers (12 million) the city government is considering taking a firmer stance in managing the city population. A policy is being considered that would force all migrant workers who have been unemployed for three or more years to leave the city. If approved it is likely the policy will go into effect in the near future.
