China’s central government released a notice for a ‘Thousand Experts Plan’ in early 2013. The plan allows for city governments to nominate foreign experts to receive a grant to live, work and do research in China.

Shenzhen recently added two foreign experts to this list. Mark Salman, a leading scholar in the field of electronics, and Oliver Deussen, internationally recognized expert on plant rendering and modeling, have been bestowed with this honor. They will receive 1 million RMB spending money, and a 5 million RMB research grant each.
