Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Railway to Open to Traffic July 1st
Jun 09, 2010 By eChinacities.com

The first high-speed (trains speeds up to 300 km/hr) intercity railway in the Yangtze Delta Region – the Shanghai to Nanjing Intercity Railway – completed tests and adjustments last month. Trial operations begin this month so as to ensure the intercity rail can officially open to traffic on July 1st. The newly completed intercity rail will help shoulder some of the increased passenger traffic between the cities caused by the Shanghai World Expo. Nanjing residents will be able to reach the Shanghai Expo in just under an hour on this new high-speed train.
