Shanghai Blanketed by Heavy Air Pollution for First Time this Fall

Even Shanghai isn’t immune to China’s air pollution problem. On the night of November 6, the Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center issued a notice to warn residents of impending air pollution on November 7.

On the morning of November 7, Shanghai’s Air Quality Index recorded a 233.24 PM2.5 count with a density of 176.4μg/m³. This pollution is expected to improve by the late afternoon but is the first case of serious air pollution so far this fall.
