May 24, 2016 By eChinacities.com

Shandong Province previously set a goal to reduce air pollution by 35% from 2013 to 2017. To accomplish this, the province plans to ban open-air BBQs in cities. In addition, the government will promote the use of natural gas and other clean energy sources. Restaurants in Shandong will be encouraged to install air purifiers

In Shandong, cities have started to remove open-air BBQs. In Qingdao, a new law stipulates that BBQs must be indoors and restaurants must be equipped with smoke and fume removal systems. Weifang banned open-air BBQs earlier this year and stipulated that indoor BBQs must have proper ventilation systems for fumes.
