On September 2, a 43-second long video was uploaded online, showing a bunch of tourists beating each other to the ground at the Forbidden City in Beijing.
Judging from the footage, the brawl occurred inside the Forbidden City near one of the entrances. First, three tourists are seen scuffling and shouting, but later four others join in. As they tackle each other onto the ground, bystanders move away to avoid getting hit. The fight is eventually broken up after a few bystanders come in and persuade them to stop.
Netizens have condemned the tourists saying, “There are so many foreign friends in the Forbidden City. It’s a loss of face to fight before their eyes.” Others questioned the security in the Forbidden City asking where the security guards were and why the souvenir vendors and staff at the ticket windows didn’t do anything to break up the fight.
