La Tomatina is returning to Beijing on September 20! 20,000 kg of tomatoes will be used as ammo in one of the world’s biggest food fights.
Apart from the usual tomato flinging fun, there will be food stalls, ice cream stands, beer kegs, jelly and mud pools and international DJ’s.
The Tomatina originated in Valencia, Spain and is traditionally held in the last week of August. The festival has come under fire in recent years for being extremely wasteful; however, the festival continues to be popular, particularly in China as many cities now stage their own Tomatinas throughout the year.
