Sanya is a hot, humid city which suffers from typhoons during June and July when many visitors choose to stay away. If a typhoon is forecast, the city will usually try to move as many visitors as possible from the area and travel plans should be made accordingly.
During the most popular times of the year, visiting Sanya can be expensive. The busy times include most national Chinese holidays such as the celebrations around Spring Festival.
Many visitors to Sanya enjoy taking part in water sports, but should be careful to check equipment thoroughly before leaving rental shops.
