From Aug 28 to Sept 4, the history-rich city of Changzhi, Shanxi province, will gather together professional rock climbers from 20 countries to compete in the third Changzhi Taihang Gorge International Climbing Festival.

Known as Shangdang before the Ming Dynasty, the 2,300-year-old city lies in the southeastern part of the province, and is a meeting point of Shanxi, Hebei and Henan province. Located about 200 km from Taiyuan, the capital city, it is easily accessible.

Besides the climbing competition, the festival will also give visitors a chance to enjoy the scenic splendor of Taihang Gorge.
