In Kunming, whenever a taxi fare goes over 10 km, the 50% per km "return fee" will now be automatically added to the total fee displayed on the metre. This should help prevent unscrupulous taxi drivers from overcharging their fares, and if they still overcharge a fare and are caught, they will be subject to a first-time offender fine of 5,000 RMB.
