Real Name Registration Requirement for Fireworks in Xinjiang
Jan 15, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Anyone wishing to buy fireworks for the upcoming Spring Festival celebrations in Xinjiang this year must register their name with authorities, Shanghai Daily reports.

The measure is already in place in Urumqi, the  provincial capital, but this year it will extend to the entire region.

According to government spokesperson, Li Jianghui the rule has been implemented to prevent terrorists gaining access to materials that could be used to make explosive devices.

All firework retail outlets will also be required to record the type and quantity of all items purchased.

Fireworks for Spring Festival 2014 will go on sale on February 4 this year.
