The Quanzhou-Sanming Freeway (Quan-San Freeway for short) officially opened to traffic on March 15, 2009.

 

The Quanzhou section of the Quan-San Freeway went into operation yesterday, together with the Sanming section, which was already opened to traffic on December, 25, 2008 The Quanzhou-Sanming Freeway, with a total length of 284.5 kilometers, has officially been completed.

Now, at normal speed, it will only take 2.5 hours traveling from Quanzhou to Sanming, shortened by 2 hours. And the journey time between Xiamen and Sanming will only take 3 hours, also shortened by 2 hours. The Quan-San Freeway is Fujian’s first express highway that starts from Quanzhou. The section between the start point (Quanzhou Nan) and Yongchun is the widest highway in Fujian Province. It is a two-way and six-lane freeway with designed speeds of 100 kilometers per hour.
