From February 18-26, Qingdao will hold its most popular and well-known Spring Festival Temple Fair: the 21st Sugar Ball Festival at the Haiyun Nunnery. The prominent theme at this year’s festival will be the continuation of traditional folk customs and culture.

According to reports, the 2011 Sugar Ball Festival will feature a lion dance competition, traditional opera, puppet shows, handmade craft performances, local snacks, as well as other traditional activities and shows.

In 2005, the Qingdao Haiyun Nunnery Sugar World Festival was named one of the ten best folk festivals in China.
