Qianmen 3D Virtual Shopping Street to Go Online in September
Aug 06, 2010 By eChinacities.com

This September, historic Beijing shopping district Qianmen Street will go digital with a website featuring services such as a “3D Virtual Shopping Street” and “Individualized Consumer Service Center”. Visitors will only need to log on to get shopping information about the area and even buy selected items right there online, alleviating the need to actually visit Qianmen.

Lining the actual Qianmen Street will be machines with travel tips and maps for the area. WAP and other services will also be made available for mobile phones so that visitors will be able to search store information and even available discounts using GPRS and 3G enabled devices. In the near future, 2D barcodes for use with mobiles will be launched, allowing users to use their mobile devices track information about different businesses and shops.

Come September, a discount “Qianmen Shopping Card” will become available to visitors as well, along with a guidebook about shopping in the area. Shoppers can use the “Qianmen Shopping Card” for discounts with different stores located along the avenue.
