Police are focusing their war against drugs on the internet with a crackdown on online drug trafficking. According to the Ministry of Public Security, over 2,000 people were arrested between March 15 and early April for drug related online crimes.

25 drug manufacturing sites were raided by police, resulting in the seizure of 268 kilograms of drugs, 22 guns and 719 rounds of ammunition.

Drug dealers involved in these operations were apparently communicating via qq and Wechat groups.

According to the ministry there is a lack of police specializing in drug related crimes in China, with only 20,000 narcotics officers nationwide.

A spokesperson from the ministry believes that the best way to tackle drug use is to increase awareness of the laws and impose harsher punishments for drug users.
