Residents in Beijing have begun to rush to supermarkets and grocery stores to buy salt in the wake of the nuclear catastrophe that is currently gripping Japan. The salt supplies of some stores in the capital was sold out. However, experts have said that iodized salt contains a relatively low level of iodine and is almost useless in preventing the harm of nuclear radiation.
