Over 10 Thousand Job Seekers Swarm into Shenzhen Foxconn Everyday

From February 6th onwards, the number of job seekers arriving at the gates of Foxconn has been increasing day by day. Over 10,000 new people have been joining the queues at the factory every day until February 14th. Foxconn increased its employees’ basic wage in 2010 following a string of highly publicized suicides. This increase has resulted in more workers returning to the plant after the Spring Festival. Foxconn currently has 20,000 job vacancies at its Shenzhen plant, which is less than vacancies over the same period last year. It is estimated that the number of job seekers at Shenzhen’s Foxconn plant will increase further in the coming days.
