North China to Warm Up, South China to Stay Chilly This Week

The recent cold snap started to let up on Sunday in North China. Most areas of North China will be significantly warmer this week. Temperatures in Inner Mongolia, North China, Northeastern China rose 8-10℃ Saturday night.

However, areas of South China including southern Yunnan will cool 3-6℃. Temperatures in the Yangtze River area will drop to -8 to -10℃, and temperatures in northern central South China will hit 0 to -15℃. The following areas may experience record low temperatures: southeast Sichuan Basin, southern Zhejiang, northern Fujian, eastern and southern Guangdong, and southeastern Yunnan. 

The cold period in South China will last from Sunday night to Monday morning. After Monday, temperatures will gradually rise.

The northern East China Sea and parts of the South China Sea will experience 10 to 11 gale force winds.

Experts have warned residents of South China to prepare accordingly for the cold weather.
