Non-smoking Section Now Mandatory in Many Restaurants in Shanghai
Mar 28, 2013 By eChinacities.com

According to a new citywide ordinance, many dining facilities across Shanghai will now fall into one of two categories: “total smoking ban” or “mandatory non-smoking section”.

From now on, smoking is officially banned in indoor dining areas of State organs and in schools and universities. Meanwhile, restaurants that are more than 150 sq. m in size and offer as least 75 dining options must feature a non-smoking section separate from the indoor smoking area.

If you are at a dining area matching the above guidelines and suffer from second-hand smoke, you can call 12331 to report a formal complaint.
