Beginning Dec. 18, Shijiazhuang has started to standardize road signs language, an initiative that will continue until August, 2010. The signs featuring place names in both Chinese and English will be changed to Chinese characters with Chinese pinyin below. For example, “Zhongshan Road” will be replaced with “Zhongshan Lu”. No English will be used except for certain nouns like “Exit,” “Entrance” and “Ramp.”
