The first annual New Year’s Dive event will be held at the beach by the “One Country Two Systems” signboard on Huandao Nan Lu. The New Year’s Dive is a Dutch tradition that is popular in the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries, wherein participants all run into the water on the first day of the New Year (traditionally wearing an orange hat). Xiamen is joining the tradition this year, with additional activities such as beach volleyball, sand sculptures, photography competitions and more.
