New Regulatory Measures for Taxi Drivers Implemented at Key Transport Hubs in Changchun
Feb 16, 2011 By eChinacities.com

Reporters learned from the Taxi Management Office of Changchun recently that in order to maintain normal taxicab operations at the Changchun Longjia International Airport and the Changchun Train Station, a new system is being implemented whereby cab drivers must carry a special card and register in order to pick up passengers. At the airport and train station, drivers must now exit their cabs and negotiate with passengers over the price of transit. Drivers are prohibited from dropping off passengers before they reach their destination or covertly springing high prices on passengers midway through their trip, and instead must always use the meter. At the train station, cab drivers are prohibited from picking up passengers before they reach the head of the taxi lane, and must simply wait until they get to the front of the line. A monitoring system has been installed at the two main taxi parking lots and will be able to automatically scan drivers 24 hours a day.
