Yiwu Meihu Exhibition Center, the current venue of Yiwu Fair, was first used in 2001. It has played an essential role for Yiwu exhibition industry. There are fairs held almost every month in the center. As more and more exhibitors come to the fair, the center with its 1500 booths is no longer capable to meet the demands of enlarging Yiwu fair. Statistics shows only 4 applicants out of 10 can get a permit to attend Yiwu Fair.
Therefore, a new exhibition venue project was started in June 2008 to help Yiwu exhibition industry progress. The new center was designed with a capacity of 5256 booths and 10 exhibition halls. It is planned to be finished before Yiwu Fair 2009 and become the main venue of the annual fair.
