Masks Required: Northern China Experiences Heavy Pollution

Heavy pollution has descended across North and Northeast China this week. 13 cities in northern China and 12 cities in northeastern China have been heavily affected by the smog.

Thursday morning, Beijing, Tianjin and surrounding areas are experiencing severe haze. On Thursday evening, a number of cities in northern and northeastern China registered extremely high levels of smog.

Severe pollution begin to build in northeastern China on Wednesday. Of 36 northeastern cities, only five had severe smog on Wednesday. However, by Thursday, 12 cities had heavy pollution.

Northern China had already experienced a week of bad air, and the situation grew worse this week. On Wednesday, 10 out of 53 cities in the region including Beijing and Tianjin experienced heavy pollution. On Thursday, 13 cities experienced thick smog.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection said that the heavy pollution will continue for some time, possibly even to next Tuesday, November 17. Even after the 17th, Beijing, Tianjin and areas in southern China will experience mild to moderate pollution.

"The Ministry of Environmental Protection said that the heavy pollution will continue for some time, possibly even to next Tuesday, November 17" all the way to 2100 with longer and longer span, higher and higher API every year. This is no problem though because all the living dead need to have face is to be seen driving a car.
