Following the gradual increase in temperature, the Sanya seaside area became increasingly empty as tourists deserted the area. Since mid-March, hotels have continued to report low occupancy rates of around 30%. In response to the declining occupancy rates, hotels have resorted to offering special discounts to attract tourists. These include hotel rooms going for as low as 10% of the original price. Among the scenic hotels near Yalong Bay, Sanya Bay and the East China Sea – the three most popular areas for such hotels – the occupancy rates remain quite high.
