The founder of Alibaba, 49 year old Ma Yun has emerged as China’s wealthiest man according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

His net worth has been calculated at a mind blowing 21.8 billion USD and will no doubt increase rapidly after Alibaba makes its debut on the New York Stock Exchange next month, in what is anticipated to be one of the largest initial public offerings in US history.

Besides Alibaba, which he has an 8.8 percent stake in, Ma owns 48.5 percent of Zhejiang Ant Small & Micro Financial, a company that operates Alibaba payment services.

Tencent’s Ma Huateng came in second at a measly 16.3 billion USD, (suck it, Huateng) and Baidu’s Robin Li came in third.

Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu are ALL monopolies and none of them are fined. There is a small little rumor that Ma Yun is a asshole behind closed doors and treats his staff like dirt. I also heard that he sold out all of his original team when he came into power. Any confirmation of this guys? What makes me angry is not the money-minded hussle of Chinese businessmen. It's the willingness to make money in the most unfair and fastest ways possible...

It's so great to see Chinese entrepreneurs beating the USA on the level playing field that is China today. Google, E-bay, Facebook, Youtube can only weep.
