To enhance volume and quality of the telecommunication between Xiamen and Kinmen, under water cable will be laid to connect the two places. With construction of the under water cable, Xiamen is expected to play an important role in the telecommunication field, such as long-distance calls and data transferring between the Taiwan Straits, huge savings are also expected to be brought to the users between the two places.
Upon completion, calls made to Chinese mainland from Taiwan will enter Xiamen’s telecom networks first via the cable, and then transferred to the destinations, and vice versa. In addition, other communication costs between Xiamen and Kinmen will be substantially reduced due to the direct link.
