Location and Climate

Shenzhen is located between 113°46' and 114°37' east longitude, and 22°27' and 22°52' north latitude in the southern part of Guangdong Province. Shenzhen is across Sham Chun River and Sha Tau Kok River and north of Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region). Dongwan and Huizhou border it to the north, Daya Bay to the east and Lingding Sea and the mouth of the Pearl River to the west.

Shenzhen enjoys a mild, subtropical maritime climate with plenty of rain and sunshine. The annual mean temperature is 23.7C (highest 36.6C and the lowest 1.4C). Because of its location, the city enjoys at least 355 frost-free days. The area enjoys 6 months of summer with relatively high humidity reaching 72.3 percent. The annual average rainfall is 1,608.1mm and there is a rainy season from May to September and occasional typhoons during summer and autumn.
