Line 1 & 2 of Kunming Metro Begins Trial Operations with Passengers

Phase one the Kunming Metro (KRT) Line 1 and 2 began trial operations with passengers on May 20, according to local reports.

The first phase, which covers the southern section of these two lines, services 12 stations across 22 km, starting at Xiaodong Cun Station (晓东村) in the north and ending at Daxue Cheng Nan Station in the south (大学城南). The train runs at 80 km/h, completing the journey in approximately 34 minutes. During the trial operations period, subway fares will cost 2-5 RMB, depending on distance traveled.
