Namucuo National Park, Lhasa's first national park, officially opened to the public on October 23. The park covers an area of 1.06 million hectares and features such incredible sights as Nyainqentanglha mountain peak (念青唐古拉山主峰), Huponiao Island (湖泊鸟岛), petroglyph-carved stones and more. At 4,722 m above sea level, Namucuo is the highest elevation saltwater lake in the world, and is a well-documented pilgrimage point for Tibetan Buddhists.

Getting there: there is no shuttle from Lhasa to Namucuo Park.  You'll need to charter a bus or car in the city.
