May 22, 2012 By eChinacities.com

Latvian-born cellist Mischa Maisky is set to perform at the Cultural Arts Centre in Suzhou on May 30. Mischa Maisky began his studies at the Moscow Conservatory with the great Rostropovich. He later moved to Israel and studied with another world famous cellist, Gregor Piatigorsky – becoming the only student to have ever studied both with Rostropovich and Piatigorsky. He has since established himself as one of the world’s greatest cellists in his own right, and has achieved critical acclaim in such musical capitals as London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, New York and Tokyo. His daughter, Lily Maisky, will be performing with him.
