Feb 17, 2011 By eChinacities.com

China’s traditional Lantern Festival takes place today (Feb 17th), resulting in heavier traffic and earlier rush hours. According to the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau, traffic is expected to peak in the afternoon and evening due to large volumes of people viewing lantern displays and attending other related events.

Lantern and flower showcase events will be taking place at Qianmen Street, Huanshi Street, Nanluoguxiang, Sanlitun and Garden of World Flowers, so these areas are expected to receive particularly heavy traffic.
