Jinan Transport - Bus

Bus lines in Jinan cover most of the city, but although the bus numbers are written in Western characters, the routes are only displayed in Chinese: if you can't read Chinese, you'll have to get used to asking bus drivers and locals for help as you travel around the city. The largest hub for buses is Quancheng Square: you can get almost anywhere by starting at this station.

There are three types of buses within the city. The cheaper buses (1 RMB flat fare) are usually crammed. 2 RMB buses are meant to be air conditioned, and are usually a little less crowded. These buses can be identified by the letter K, which precedes their route number. Additionally, there is a high-speed bus called the BRT line that is 1 RMB for a ticket.  Month long tickets are also acceptable. Buses with a 2-digit number serve the city centre, three digit numbers serve the suburbs and there are three additional rush hour buses.

The bus network starts up at around 05:00 and shuts down between 20:00-21:30.
