Jiangxi Province Soon to be Home to World’s Tallest Bronze Buddha
May 23, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Leshan in Sichuan may still hold claim to the largest seated Buddha made of stone in the world, but Jiangxi Province will soon be home to the world’s tallest bronze Buddha statue.

The statue—which incidentally is also the only outdoor bronze Buddha statue in China—is being constructed in Xingzi County, near Jiujiang City in Jiangxi and has cost a whopping 1 billion RMB to make. It is gilded with 48 kg worth of gold, the funding of which was donated by Buddhists from around the world. Fortunately, once the statue is completed, entry to see it will be free of charge.
