Jiangsu Man Jailed for 3 Years, Fined 900,000 for Selling Fake Xiaomi Phones on Taobao

A man named Yang from Yangzhou, Jiangsu was sentenced to three years in jail and fined 900,000 Yuan for selling counterfeit Xiaomi phones through his Taobao shop. Between January and May 2014 Yang sold a total of 750 counterfeit phones. Yang was arrested on May 14, 2014. Upon his arrest, police seized a total of 179 fake Xiaomi Hongmi phones worth 166,000 Yuan.

Yang was recently found guilty of selling counterfeit trademarked goods by Yangzhou's Guangling district court. Yang plead guilty to the charges, and was therefore punished more leniently than he would have been otherwise. However, because of his large volume of sales, his punishment was still steep.  In addition to his three year prison sentence and 900,000 Yuan fine, Yang must pay back the 490,000 Yuan he made in illegal income.

Shows that fake apple phones are no longer the lucrative products they once where.

Is that punishment so "tough" because it's concerning a Chinese brand? I can give them a few Samsung or Apple copy big sellers contacts.

If this was implemented to all the counterfeits China has done on western products, man there'd be so much people in jail right now. But of course, bad to copy a Chinese product, but copying a western product is ok, its not in China anyway. Eva head with the body of Baymax posters around Hangzhou, seen that?

Yang from Yangzhou...taobao counterfeit....Alibaba from China not doing so well in USA. Mr Yang, you didn't have guanxi with certain major shareholders of Alibaba let alone knew who they were nor how much money was at stake, right? That's the real reason you deserve to be in jail! If it is any consolation your name is showing up in some report in USA, as Alibaba's "proof" that it is working to clean up taobao. You better pray Yankees buy it. Oh, CCP said never believe in superstitution stuff, the only thing you believe in is money? Then say sesame, sesame open! LOL
