Investigators Claim Hangzhou UFO Really Just an Airplane

The results of a preliminary investigation report into the UFO incident above Hangzhou’s Xiaoshan Airport have been announced.

According to the investigation team made up of professionals from Beijing and Shanghai, the picture taken by Mr. Ma supposedly documenting a UFO is actually of an aircraft landing. Mr. Ma's picture was widely used by the media, and circulated around internet forums that discussed the UFO sighting above Hangzhou.

At around 20:00 on July 7th, Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport delayed and canceled nearly 20 flights due to a UFO sighting, setting off a flurry of news reports and netizen responses. The next day, Xinhua News published a news article stating that the UFO sighting above Hangzhou had forced many flights to be redirected for emergency landing in Ningbo and Wuxi. CCTV broadcasted the same news. Subsequently, an investigation team comprised of professionals from Beijing and Shanghai were sent to Hangzhou to look further into the matter.

On the morning of July 25th, spokesperson and member of the investigation team Zhang Yunhua revealed the results of their probe and offered a preliminary explanation for the UFO sighting: the investigation concluded that there is no evidence suggesting the UFO was a flying object from outer space, and that Mr. Ma's picture was actually of an aircraft making a landing.
