Fuzhou will be playing host to the annual International Dragon Boat Federation World Cup this year, from June 10 to 12.
Around 450 athletes from around the world will be competing, including for the first time, a 12 crew category for women. The organizers hope to promote Fuzhou’s cultural heritage as well as an interest in sports and healthy lifestyles.
To qualify for the World Cup, teams competed in the Dragon Boat World Championships, with the top 16 teams going through to the World Cup Final.
