On August 4 at 9:20 pm, Wenzhou Cangnan County Police was conducting routine inspection at a local hotel and found that guest information was not properly logged as per the recently enacted regulations. The same hotel had been handed infractions previously for neglecting to register guest information as per their official identification documents. Hotel administration was required to correct their infractions upon repeat inspection. For the repeat offense and as authorized under the anti-terrorism regulation promulgated on January 1 of this year, the hotel was required to pay 10,000 RMB in penalty and the front desk was equally penalized at 1,000 RMB.
Hotel owners and service providers were reminded by police to properly check and log guest information according to official identification documents as required by the new regulations. Travelers were asked to also cooperate and provide official ID upon check-in. Those who do not have their official IDs and require accommodation in emergency situations are asked to report to the local police office for verified identity papers before being allowed to check-in.
