The Nadam Fair held annually in the summer (July or August) is often said to be the best time of year to see Hohhot, but any time between April and October will be between 15C and 25C and should provide a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. However, it's advisable to pack extra layers even in the middle of summer as temperatures drop after nightfall.
