Hefei’s Landline Numbers Changed to Eight Digits
Nov 30, 2012 By eChinacities.com

From December 8 onwards, Hefei’s fixed landline numbers will consist of eight digits and the original 0565 district code will no longer be used. Instead, the new area code will change to 0551 and all numbers will begin with a ‘6’. Moreover, landline numbers for Lujiang County and Chaohu City will now begin with the number ‘8’. Therefore, customers wishing to call a landline within the city will have to add either 6 or 8 to the original number. Emergency numbers like 110, 119 or 120 remain unchanged.
