Hefei Transport - Introduction

As a major transport hub, Hefei has excellent links to the rest of China by road, rail and air, and to Hong Kong via Luogang International Airport. The well-developed expressway network places major regional cities within easy driving distance: Nanjing can be reached in just two hours, while Shanghai or Wuhan are a four to five hour drive from Hefei.

A second airport, located to the north, is planned for Hefei City. Construction began at the end of 2008 with an original completion date of 2010.  However, the airport has yet to open.

The Hefei-Wuhan Railway cuts the Wuhan-Hefei journey time to two hours. The new Hefei-Nanjing Railway reduces the trip to Nanjing to 45 minutes, and the Shanghai journey to three hours.
