Hangzhou Ambulances Fitted with Fare Metres
Feb 28, 2012 By eChinacities.com

In early February, a number of Hangzhou’s emergency ambulances were fitted with fare metres to let patients know the cost of the trip. Ambulances charge a standard fee of 10 RMB (within 3km) and 2 RMB for every kilometre thereafter (the metre begins as soon as the ambulance leaves the hospital and ends once it has arrived back at the hospital with the patient).

Other emergency fee rates are as follows: first aid treatment (refers to treatments in the ambulance or directly on site including an examination, remedy, monitoring, nursing, providing oxygen and supply fees) for seriously ill patients cost 150 RMB per person, per time; 50 RMB for patients with moderate illnesses. Meanwhile, CPR treatment costs 100 RMB per person, per time; treating a massive haemorrhage costs 50 RMB per person, per time (includes rescue materials and instruments other than special haemostasis utensils). Fees for medicines are calculated according to the cost of the specific medicines used. Those with medical insurance can claim back the cost of these services.
