Construction of a new Drum Tower has begun in Lingui, Guilin's New District. The work on the tower will continue for an estimated three months. The completed Drum Tower, constructed entirely of steel and glass, will have 15 floors and stand at 81 metres high. The new tower will stand 10 metres higher than the nation's tallest steel and glass Drum Tower, the Leifeng Pagoda in Hangzhou, and has already been nicknamed "China's First Drum Tower."
