On July 18th, The Guilin Tourism Administration announced that its tourism industry has increased sharply during the first half of 2011. The total number of tourists reached 12.59 million; an increase of 30.17% from last year. Revenue from tourism reached 8.8 billion RMB, a yearly increase of 30.53%. This is no doubt due to the launch of three new flights between Guilin and ASEAN countries (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) which began this year, as the number of tourists from ASEAN has increased by 61.3% already.
