Shuang Pi Nai (Double-Skin Milk) 双皮奶

Nanxin Shuang Pi Nai is the specialty of Nanxin Milk Store on the Xia Jiu Lu. Simmered milk has a frozen cover made of the mixture of egg white and milk; hence, the name Double-Skin Milk. When finished, this food appears to be pure white and jelly-like. It is soft, sweet, and most importantly, nutritious.

Jidi Zhou (Jidi Porridge) 极地粥
Jidi Zhou, which is served in the Wuzhan Ji Restaurant, is the most famous of all.  Its popularity emerged early in the 1990s.  Today, Wuzhuan Ji Restaurant is still hailed as the best for Jidi Porridge.  Other venues include Liuhua Porridge City, which is located inside the Liuhua Park.

Yuntun Mian (Wonton Noodle) 云吞面
If you have a Wonton craving, you best head to Shangxia Jiu Lu, Xihua Lu and Renmin Lu.  These streets are packed with Wonton eateries with unique guarded recipes. Cantonese food is great for breakfast.  Morning cravings can easily be satisfied with Yuntun Miao.

Ouchengji Wonton Noodle Restaurant
The most famous wontons in Guangzhou are served in Ouchengji.  The restaurant was established in 1940. Best noted wontons are the shrimp wontons, Shuijiao Mian (mixture of dumpling & noodle). Its wontons are characterized by thin shell, soft and refreshing minced shrimp.

Definitely one of the most popular snacks amongst the locals. It is now a must-serve in nearly all teahouses and night markets.

Guiling Gao 龟苓糕
Most locals are afraid of suffering from excessive internal heat.  In order to prevent it, they love to eat Guiling Gao. That is a kind of brown jelly that holds the shape of the vessel. Guiling Gao can clear internal heat.  The more bitter, the better for you.  

Shahe Fen 沙河粉
Shahe Fen, a type of Chinese noodle made from rice, is a standard dish.  The wide Chinese noodle may vary and can include ho fen, hofen, ho-fen, ho fun, ho-fun, hor fun, hor fen, sar hor fun, etc. It is believed that Shahe fen originated in the town of Shahe, which is now a district of the city of Guangzhou. Shahe fen is typical of southern Chinese cuisine; similar noodles are also prepared and enjoyed in nearby Southeast Asian nations. However, out of all the similar noodles, Shahe fen enjoys far more reputation around the world.

Shahe fen noodles are white, broad, and somewhat slippery. Their texture is elastic and a bit chewy. They do not freeze or dry well and are thus generally purchased fresh, in strips or sheets that may be cut to the desired width. Where fresh noodles are not available, they may also be purchased packaged in dried form, in various widths.
