According to the Singapore United Morning Post, sales for the Chinese branch of the UK’s biggest pharmaceutical company, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), jumped by 20% in 2012. Sales figures were estimated to be around 1 billion GBP.
Chinese police have identified bribery (including sex bribes) as one of the reasons for the sudden jump in sales. Four high-level executives from GSK China have arrested following the revelations, and are suspected of accepting bribes as well as bribing government officials and doctors.

Nothing new, I was wined and dined frequently when I was working for the UK National Health Service twenty years ago. It' was common practice, if you're very lucky and very important they may throw in the odd luxury car. Normal business practice as far as Big Pharma is concerned. Many industries around the world provide 'sweetners' to help close a deal some people call it bribery others call it commision or a fee.
