As elsewhere in China, self-drive cars can be rented in Fuzhou only by holders of a Chinese license. Foreigners may wish to consider the alternative of hiring a car with driver – not nearly as pricey a proposition as it is in the West. However, most of the chauffeurs do not speak English, so it is important that visitors who do not speak Chinese have their intended destinations written in Chinese characters.
